Care information

High care information about CO2 laser lenses, fiber laser protective windows, and
fiber laser lenses is essential to ensure the optimal performance and longevity
of these critical components in laser systems. Here are some key points to consider:

CO2 Laser Lenses:

Cleaning:
Regularly clean CO2 laser lenses to remove dust, debris, and residue. Use a
soft, lint-free cloth or lens cleaning tissue. Avoid using abrasive materials
that may scratch the lens.

Handling:
Always handle CO2 lenses with clean hands or lint-free gloves to avoid transferring oils or contaminants onto the lens surface.

Storage:
Store lenses in a clean, dry, and dust-free environment to prevent damage and
maintain their integrity.

Alignment:
Properly align CO2 lenses within the laser system to ensure efficient laser
beam delivery and focus.

Inspection:
Regularly inspect lenses for signs of damage, scratches, or deterioration.
Replace any damaged or worn lenses promptly.

Fiber
Laser Protective Windows:

Cleaning:
Clean fiber laser protective windows with care to avoid scratches. Use a gentle
cleaning solution and a soft, lint-free cloth.

Protection:
Keep protective windows in place when the laser system is not in use to prevent
contamination and damage.

Replacement:
If protective windows become damaged, replace them immediately to maintain
laser system safety and performance.

Fiber Laser Lenses:

Cleaning:
Clean fiber laser lenses carefully to prevent damage. Use a lens cleaning
solution and a soft, lint-free cloth or lens tissue.

Handling:
Handle fiber laser lenses with care to avoid fingerprints, oils, or scratches
on the lens surface.

Alignment:
Properly align fiber laser lenses to ensure accurate laser beam focusing and
efficient performance.

Inspection:
Regularly inspect fiber laser lenses for signs of wear, damage, or contamination. Replace any compromised lenses promptly.

Environmental Considerations: Be mindful of environmental factors such as temperature and
humidity, as extreme conditions may affect lens performance.

Overall,
maintaining high care and attention to detail when handling, cleaning, and
storing CO2 laser lenses, fiber laser protective windows, and fiber laser
lenses will enhance their longevity and contribute to the smooth and reliable
operation of your laser systems. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines
and best practices for each specific component to ensure optimal results.

Orders placed during the weekend (Saturday - Sunday) or
holiday will be shipped on the next business day.

All packages are shipped FOB ORIGIN – These shipping terms
are characteristic of a “SHIPMENT CONTRACT” and the seller bears the expense
and risk of putting the goods in the possession of the carrier. Title transfers to the buyer at the point when the goods leave the shipper’s loading dock but reverts back to the seller if the buyer follows the correct procedures of notifying the seller of “breach” by “rightfully revoking cceptance.” Even if “breach” has occurred, the buyer remains responsible for filing “carrier loss
claims.”

CO₂ Laser ZnSe Beam Combiner Window – High Transmission 10.6µm Optic

Important: This is a custom component and may require additional manufacturing lead time. Please contact American Photonics prior to ordering if your project has a required delivery date so we can verify current availability.

The American Photonics ZnSe Beam Combiner Window is a precision optical component designed to combine a visible red alignment laser with an invisible CO₂ laser beam. Mounted at a 45° angle, this optic transmits approximately 99% of the 10.6µm CO₂ laser beam while reflecting more than 80% of the visible red alignment beam, allowing accurate beam positioning without sacrificing cutting or engraving performance.

Product Overview

Improve laser alignment and increase operator confidence with a premium ZnSe Beam Combiner Window from American Photonics.

Beam combiners are flat optical windows specifically coated to transmit the infrared CO₂ laser wavelength while reflecting the visible red alignment laser. When installed correctly at a 45° angle of incidence, the beam combiner allows the red aiming beam to follow the same optical path as the cutting beam, making setup and positioning faster and more accurate.

Manufactured from premium Zinc Selenide (ZnSe), this optic is engineered for excellent infrared transmission while maintaining high visible-light reflectivity.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Transmits approximately 99% of the 10.6µm CO₂ laser beam
  • Reflects over 80% of the visible red alignment laser
  • Designed for installation at a 45° angle of incidence
  • Improves laser alignment and positioning accuracy
  • Premium laser-grade ZnSe optical material
  • Ideal for CO₂ laser engraving and cutting systems

Applications

Ideal for:

  • CO₂ laser beam alignment
  • Red dot laser integration
  • Laser engraving systems
  • Laser cutting machines
  • Industrial CO₂ laser equipment
  • OEM laser system upgrades

Installation Guidelines

Proper installation is critical for maximum optical performance.

  • Install the beam combiner at a 45° angle relative to the laser beam path.
  • Ensure the optic is clean before installation.
  • Handle only by the edges using clean gloves or optical handling tools.
  • Avoid fingerprints, dust, and contaminants on optical surfaces.

Important Handling Notice

ZnSe is a relatively soft optical material and should be handled with extreme care.

Excessive clamping pressure can:

  • Distort the crystal structure
  • Increase optical reflection losses
  • Cause beam distortion
  • Create localized overheating
  • Reduce optic life

Installation Recommendation:

Tighten the retaining ring only until the optic no longer moves inside the holder. Do not overtighten.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a beam combiner?

A beam combiner is an optical window that combines a visible red alignment laser with the invisible CO₂ laser beam, allowing both beams to follow the same optical path.

Why is a beam combiner installed at 45°?

The optical coatings are designed to perform at a 45° angle of incidence, transmitting the infrared CO₂ beam while reflecting the visible red laser.

How much CO₂ laser power passes through the beam combiner?

When properly installed, the beam combiner transmits approximately 99% of the 10.6µm CO₂ laser beam.

How much of the red alignment laser is reflected?

The beam combiner reflects more than 80% of the visible red laser, making beam alignment easier to see.

Can I overtighten the optic?

No. Overtightening can damage the ZnSe crystal, distort the laser beam, and shorten the optic's service life. Tighten only enough to prevent movement within the holder.

How should I clean a ZnSe beam combiner?

Use approved optical cleaning supplies, lint-free lens tissue, and high-purity isopropyl alcohol or a dedicated optical cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials or excessive pressure during cleaning.

Important: This is a custom optical component and may require additional manufacturing lead time. Please contact American Photonics prior to ordering if your project has a required delivery date so we can verify current availability.
